The most user-friendly and precise touch screen technology currently in use is capacitive. Quoting from Wikipedia:
“As the human body is also a electrical conductor, touching the surface
of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic
field, measurable as a change in capacitance.” A drawback of capacitive
touch screens is that you need to touch them with something conductive.
Thus, gloves are out (in winter) and so are simple styli. While I mostly
