Movie: Singles (1992)
Amazing that I’ve last seen “
Singles” [
itunes.com,
amazon.com,
amazon.uk] almost 20 years ago, when it first came out, at the movies. I liked it back then and I still like it now. It’s a fun romantic comedy about singles living in Seattle in the early nineties.
Observations:
- The movie happened at the height of Grunge-mania, in the city of Grunge music, Seattle. Grunge music is frequently featured in the film, which is a nice way of adding historical context.
- “Singles” is directed Cameron Crowe, who once was a rock music journalist, which explains why music plays such an important role here.
- Kurt Cobain, a prominent Grunge figure, was still alive at that time.
- As shown in one of the scenes, vinyl records were already considered out-of-date, in 1992. Amazing that we are still using CDs at all, after all this time.
